“This is one of the best, unknown places on the Westside”...Saketini
is owned by Sung Kang who played Han in the movie Better Luck
Tomorrow. In fact, it was Kang who greeted us at the door and
seated us with a smile. Despite the celebrity owner and the
gorgeous dark wood interior, the food is the real star here...On
to the appetizers, where our only complaint was that there were
too many good choices...
I was impressed with every aspect of the meal, from the drinks
to the appetizers to the main course. We were too stuffed to
sample the dessert menu, next time I am going to have to plan
better.
Saketini
also has a tasting menu and I asked Sung Kang about it. He
suggested that you call ahead to reserve for the tasting menu
and the chef would keep an eye out when he shops for that
day. Fresh is definitely important at the restaurant and it’s
not unusual for them to run out of dishes for lack of ingredients.
I
have yet to try Saketini for lunch, but there is an enticing
day time menu of items priced under $10, as well as take away
bento boxes.
So
there it is, the best kept secret on the Westside is now out
of the bag. |

Amid Asian artifacts and bathrooms with calming Zen pebbles
dumped over the sink drains, Saketini satiates the Brentwood
elite with organic salads, sushi, pan-Asian specialties and
lunch specials ... Sit window-side at any one of the polished
oak tables and order yaki (meat on a stick), or any one of the
Saketini dishes that read like a litany of cancelled programs
on the Food Channel. For starters, there's Oyster Love, Grandpa's
Peppered Salmon, a Spicy Scallop Bomb, and Popeye the Crab --
succulent spinach crepes filled with tender crab meat. Entrees
include Jammin' Nagi Bowl and Candy Apple Bass (a sea bass in
an apple-garlic sauce). Not surprisingly, the sake menu deserves
special attention for its premium brands, but they're best served
cold, not hot. |

One of the best Sushi secrets in L.A.
DO NOT
MISS THIS PLACE!!! I am even hesitant to recommend Saketini
because there are only a few tables in the place, and I don't
want to ever have to have a tough time getting in. The food
is absolutely WONDERFUL (DO NOT MISS THEIR VERSION OF FRIED
RICE!!!) The sushi is fresh and imaginative and the entrees
are excellent. The service is always warm and friendly and
without pretentiousness you would get at some places. The
owner/manager (not sure of her title or name) is ever present
and she lends a certain class to this tiny little gem.
Very Impressed! Excellent service and food
Went there Tuesday night, walk-in. Pleasantly surprised. Restaurant
was small and cozy, nice simple decor. Not very crowded. Hostess
was nice. Our waiter was wonderful- very attentive and accomodating.
The sushi was excellent....fresh, different and worth every
penny. We ate every last bite. I liked the mango chachacha
salad- simple, tasty. Loved the baked salmon roll, we ended
up ordering an extra one to go. Crunchy spicy tuna roll was
light and perfectly garnished. Avocado Eel roll was a hit
with my friends. Shitaki Yakitori was mouthwatering. I didn't
have any alcohol but next time I'll definitely try a saketini.
Also they have a variety of baked rolls, organic salads, and
free-range chicken on the menu. A great choice for a mixed
group where some love sushi and others prefer something else.
Truly a neighborhood gem. I was very impressed and will definitely
be coming back.
small
but quaint ...
Loved their eggplant
salad/appetizer. they served the outer layer of the eggplant
as a cup, stuffed with pureed eggplant. It was a great hit.
The entree fish entree we ordered was on the small side, but
it was tasty. it's a very small restaurant, so i would recommend
reservations.
